Why extract images from a PDF
Photos in a presentation, the logo in a contract, illustrations in a catalogue — a screenshot of the page only gives you a blurry copy. This tool pulls the embedded images themselves out of the PDF, exactly as they are stored in the file: same format, same resolution, no recompression. All pictures from all pages arrive in one archive, named by page number.
How to extract images
- 1
Upload the PDF.
- 2
Wait a few seconds while the tool finds the embedded images on every page.
- 3
Download the ZIP archive.
- 4
Unpack it: the files are named by page, for example page3_img1.jpg.
What extraction does
Original quality
Images are copied out of the file without re-encoding, at full resolution.
Native format
Photos come out as JPG, graphics and screenshots as PNG, depending on how they are stored in the PDF.
All pages at once
No need to open every page: pictures from the whole document are gathered into one archive.
Clear names
Each file name carries the page number and the image's position on that page.
Whole scans
From a scanned PDF you get the pages as images — handy for reprocessing.
Images only
Text and vector graphics are not extracted; the archive holds raster pictures only.
No sign-up
Works right away; no account needed.
Files are not kept
The source and the archive are deleted from the server automatically after an hour.
When you need it
Extraction saves the day when the original pictures are lost:
- photos from an old presentation are needed for a new one;
- the logo or stamp exists only in a PDF contract;
- catalogue illustrations are needed for a website;
- pages of a scanned document are wanted as pictures;
- diagrams from a manual go into a report or article.
What exactly is extracted
A PDF stores raster images as separate objects — those are what the tool pulls out. Photos usually sit inside as JPG, screenshots and graphics with transparency as PNG, and that is how they are saved. Charts drawn as vectors and text are not images: to get them as a picture, convert the page with PDF to PNG.
Why there are more or fewer pictures than expected
One picture on a page may be stored as several fragments — then the archive holds several files. The reverse happens too: an invisible background tile is also an image and ends up in the archive. If the archive is empty, the pages are made of vector graphics or text — converting the pages to images is the answer then.
