Why remove a PDF password
A bank statement that asks for a password every time, a contract that forbids printing, a report you cannot copy a table from — protection gets in the way once the document is yours. Enter the password you know and the tool saves a copy of the file without encryption or restrictions: it opens straight away, prints, and lets you select text. The tool cannot guess an unknown password — it only lifts protection from files you already have access to.
How to remove a PDF password
- 1
Upload the protected PDF.
- 2
Enter the password that opens it.
- 3
Click Unlock — the file is decrypted in a second.
- 4
Download the copy that opens without a password.
What unlocking does
Open password
A file that asks for a password on opening is saved without one.
Owner restrictions
Bans on printing, copying and editing are lifted together with the encryption.
No quality loss
The content is not redrawn — text, fonts and images stay as they were.
Any encryption
Files protected with RC4 and AES, including 256-bit, are supported.
Right inside other tools
When a protected file is loaded into any PDF Boss tool, the password can be entered on the spot.
Password check
If the password is wrong, the tool says so at once — nothing gets damaged.
No sign-up
Works right away; no account needed.
Files are not kept
The source and the result are deleted from the server automatically after an hour.
When you need it
Lift the protection when it only gets in the way:
- a bank statement or invoice asks for a password every time it opens;
- a document forbids printing but you need a hard copy;
- text or a table cannot be copied out of a report;
- a protected file has to be merged, split or compressed;
- a document goes to colleagues who have no use for the password.
Two kinds of PDF passwords
A user password is needed to open the document at all. An owner password lets the file open but forbids printing, copying or edits. The tool lifts both kinds of protection when you enter the password that opens the file: the result is a plain, unencrypted PDF without restrictions.
What the tool does not do
It does not guess or crack passwords: without the right one an encrypted file cannot be read, and the tool reports the error honestly. Only lift protection from documents you have the rights to. The file content does not change — only the encryption is removed, so size and quality stay the same.
